I’d prefer Dalek. Now I’m wondering if I can create an alternative gang just using old plastic Daleks.

A totally-not-Dalek kill squad (somewhat nerfed because Doctor Who has no sense of scale) would kinda be a sick Arbitrator encounter.

We always pronounce it Deh-luck around here, with a bit of a French twang to it. But I guess it's a taste thing. I remember when Privateer Press told everyone the faction Khador was pronounced "Kay-durr" and the fans were like "Hah, no." and kept going "Kaah-door" anyway.

Seeing as it's obviously French-ish, the de-lack pronunciation was always the obvious one to me, and turns out... I was vindicated.
Totally stressed out today. Not (just) because of the election, but my Yakwife is having her fifth spine related surgery today. Plus my 6 Yaklings are in four different locations, and I still have class today (job expansion).

Sounds really rough. First off, all the best to the Yakwife! And I hope miniature painting reaches you in the very immediate future.
The surgery went well, but they’re having a tough time controlling her pain, so she’s stuck there until they can get it under control.
Lore wise, are there limitations on how I can backstory my chaos space marines? Like, do all chaos space marines come from certain legions, or something like that?
Some are still alive from the Legion days. A few Chapters have fallen entirely. Most are individual Marines who have fallen to Chaos. They also create new Marines in the same way the Imperium do. Then there is Fabius and his cloning.
Take your pick really.
I want to make khornate chapter (is it called a chapter for csm?) where each individual marine is a noble within their society, practice martial skills as an art form and appear a lot less savage.
Soooo…. How about… they were a loyal chapter after the Horus heresy and all that ended but more recently they were isolated by warp storms (the physical isolation leading to philosophical differences). The general population of their home / recruitment worlds tended towards mutation, perhaps as a result of the warp storms.
So when the storms lifted, the rest of the imperium noticed what had happened. The chapter was ordered to kill hugh swathes of their own population. The mass killing drawing the attention of Khorn but simultaneously diverting doubt away from the chapter.
When the warp storms began again the chapter a civil war between the space marines started, between those that wished to separate and those that wished to stay loyal to the imperium. Due to the support of the lower population the separatists won. It didn’t take long for Khorn worship to take over.
When the warp storms subsided again, they found that the entire solar system had resurfaced, not where it had previously stood but within the boundaries of the eye of terror.
Is there any glaring inconsistencies in that. I haven’t been reading the books so I feel that this is ok but if I come across a lore buff I don’t want to be caught with a “well, actually…”

Generally a Warband I think but go with what you like.
No idea about modern lore as it isn't my thing but I think the Eye is much bigger now so it should be fine.
The Eye and then there’s the great rift that split the galaxy in half.
