What's on your mind?

Is this supposed to be satire? Boob tanks, boob planes and boob space ships driven by boob armoured battle babes. Oh yeah and a be-boobed ladynaught. What will they show us in episode 2? A double death star?

Obi-wan, "That's no moon, it's a pair of knockers!" *Luke and Han gaze in wide eyed wonder*
It is safe to say that the devs went the extra mile or dare I say...the extra boob.

These days, everyone is quick to label something "AI Slop" but this here, well, this here deserves it, because wow, this is peak. It's remarkable because at first, it looks good! It does, all shiny and with a lot of detailing, like the loving renders a company like, say, Blizzard Entertainment did in their heyday. But then you consider it more closely and it's like those overly airbrushed celebrity pictures in glossy magazines your gram used to read over Sunday lunch. It feels artificial, weird and just kind of off.

It's a long list of little things that chafe, but one big thing is that some parts, like the faces of the zombies(?) are too clean and others just don't make sense, like the composition was done by two people who don't share a language or an office, just a stack of stock photos and history magazines, and aren't allowed to see each other's work before it's implemented. The dialogue is weirdly sped up, which I heard is a way to hide the imperfections that AI synthesis creates sometimes. And then we arrive at the utterly inexplicable boobs on everything.

So should it be revealed that this was done by an actual person, well, that person really needs to get themselves looked at. Sternly, disapprovingly, by a professional, doesn't matter much.

I was waiting for the robot(?) with the big hammer to start firing beams from her chest. Or maybe firing harpoons from those things to pull enemies closer into her lethal embrace?

I want to paint a new battle tank tomorrow and decided that the patchwork camo pattern is too much work as I have done that exclusively in the past with my jungle Imperial Knights. This is the where you apply multiple amoeba shapes which intermingle with one another. So I researched what could still be good for a lazy painter as me and found the pixel camo pattern. You take several different shapes of foam, dunk them into four to five different paints and gently press them onto the hull. The idea is that the section it was pressed on will not be entirely covered by the paint.
Has anybody had experience with that pixel camo technique? And will it look good?

I just came home from my photoshoot with Lady D from Resident Evil. If you count yourself among the men of culture then please contact me via private message. Oh, and one more thing: Please wear a winter coat as it will be a frosty experience.

And more about Resident Evil. I just came home from the cinema and will now give my honest opinion of it without spoiling too much of the story. First the good stuff. Cinematography is good as well as the winter setting. Pacing is also done well. And now we come to the bad part. Well, if you want to know how a jabroni looks like then the picture of the protagonist should be in the Oxford English Dictionary. None of the other characters treat him kindly and even his girl friend/wife is talking down to him on the phone. It needs to be said that other people portrayed in the movie are also quite the opposite of authority figures which lends this movie an unfavourable undercurrent of comedy though they are not as bad as him. I noticed that the folks in the cinema laughed more often than they were afraid which is a bad sign. There were a few homages to the video game which were okay to appease the video game crowd who might rate this movie more favourably. Oh, I forgot another thing. The scientists, employees of Umbrella, who were tasked to perform top-secret lab work looked and behaved all like first-semester students. And they handled the McGuffin in maybe a minute or less. Just a complete shit show in that regard. And that´s all, folks.

Verdict: 5.5 from 10 stars.

It seems there are already several Star Crusade videos out there each with it´s own thematic topic. I will just highlight one more as you can surely research the other ones on your own, if you are inclined to do so. Let me introduce you to the daily grind of Batfleck driving his Pursuit Special (Ford Falcon XB) through the remains of a postapocalyptic city. AI slop is getting better each day. Maybe in five years we will have another 90 min. action flick of Schwarzenegger in his prime. And here is Batfleck:

So i was in the local Target today, and found HeroQuest: First Light on sale for $14.99 (70%) off! It has 5 minis: the four heroes and a "dragon". The rest of the enemies are cardboard punch-outs. On the way out I also spotted Warhammer Blind Boxes. I thought those only existed in Japan (it did have kanji on it). Those were $8.99 each.

I picked up a copy of HeroQuest.

The designer of Spearhead is doing his own skirmish game called Black Death City, and he put out a very cool video discussing both the game and the game design process. I found it very interesting, so thought others might also enjoy a watch! The game itself looks pretty good (and the playtest version is currently free) - a modernized version of Mordheim with the Kill Team method for resolving combat.

As per the thread title, a major thing on my mind is that I am already sick of Tone Pro paints and do not wish to hear any more about them. It seems like it's nearly all what my little bubble of tabletop internet talks about and I really could not care less if I tried.

That is all.
You're not alone in that sentiment! The online propaganda push has been ridiculous in a very tiresome way.

Yep. They seem to be marketed as “pro” but everything shown about them makes it look like they’re for the eBay “Pro painted” type of pro, not the “miniature painting artist” type who needs none of that.

Plus I’m damn sick of going on socials and seeing not only another advert for them but also various other companies piling on with “blob tests”, tri-penta tone ranges etc.

So I just was about to finish my new traitor tank when the turret fell off. The arm of the tank commander broke off and the whole turret fell into a painting box on the ground. Easy to find the missing arm, ye think? NOPE! Bloody thing slipped into another dimension! Not on the desk, not on the table, not in the painting box and not one the carpet. Just gone! This shit happens all the time and I am tired of it!

It's just a range of paints where each colour comes in several tones, so instead of what an actual pro (or just moderately good) painter does - lightening and darkening the tone themselves depending on need - you get to instead buy three or four (or five) of the colour! What a deal and so "pro"!

They've gone nuts with the influenza marketing campaign, so tedious gushing about how amazing they are abounds.
