I can’t recall an instance lately when they’ve officially let one design represent two different weapons profiles
Escher don't have specific models for power/stiletto swords and power/stiletto knives. Similarly, Orlock have power/combat knives.
That's not on the same level as the missing Delaque lasguns though, as the difference between a power weapon and a regular weapon of the same kind can reasonably be represented with the paintjob alone.

I don’t see the power swords having a model option for Escher at all and it’s (with th lack of the iconic power generators) quite clear that the stiletto swords aren’t intended to double as the power version. If you look at the original images of orlock weapons (from GW2) it’s quite clear that the same wasn’t intended for orlock fighting knives.

The Escher swords do have the wires and beads of a powerfield generator on the blades like other power weapons. The knives don't though.

Nooooooooooooooo. Not this again.

Back to page 7 lads.

The Escher Sword on the Sprue is a Power Sword.

The Stiletto Knife is a Stiletto Knife. They never made a Stiletto Sword or a Power Knife for Escher.

It was Gang War 1 which messed it up as it was rush released the same time as the box set. It added the extra weapons.

The Box Set, i.e the thing the Escher sprue was released with and intended to be the first release refers to these weapons only as a Power Sword and a Stiletto Dagger.

I agree that was originally intended as a power sword (but has since been retconned to a stiletto sword in the artwork), however either way the point still stands that it is one weapon being used to represent two different weapons on the HWL.

One hand doesn’t know what the other is doing. And neither seems to be under the control of the brain.

They couldn’t be bothered/forgot to make one. People moved on. So they just let it slip. But that’s ok, they gave us 30 hand flamers and a reversed Chem thrower.

Proxying is one thing but actually claiming that it isn’t what it actually is is wrong. And that includes the artwork!! Hence my page 7 comment that they book writers slapped haphazard labels and names on other illustrations.

It’s only being used like that because they have given you no alternative (except converting).

But I guess an Escher could take the batteries out and slather it in toxin if she wanted...

... the Power Sword. Power Sword. Nothing else.:whistle:

If you're going to go down that road then it has to be the stiletto sword. Stiletto sword. Nothing else... as that's what the current version of the rulebook unambiguously lists it as. Doesn't matter what you think or I think, that's what the current rules call it. It's a perfect example of the complete eff up GW have made of the n17 to n18 release.

Well, here's a dress.

Is it White and Gold or Blue and Black?

We'll ignore the actual material, design and reality and base our conclusions on a dodgy photo.

Good job! (y)

Of that we can agree.

can we all please stop talking about swords
You're optimistic. :D Heh heh. Ok, I'll stop.

Should we return to Arbites/Enforcers/Cyber Police?

Just trying rlthrow a bit more fuel on this fire the GW website lists the Escher box as containing 4 power swords and 6 stiletto blades, as well as 4 sheathed stiletto blades.

So officially I guess the blades could be either swords or knives. Given that you don’t need to model knives anyway they may have intended them all to be swords, but just messed up the old GW heroic scale.

Lol ... They're your models and they can be whatever you want them to be. Just carry the greatest argument resolution gws even made ... Bjorn in a sock. :p :D :ROFLMAO:

Edit: That's the old metal one and you may need to double sock it. :p

Q - When does anything become anything?

A - When you pay the points for it.

Any piece of plastic (or metal, or resin, or anything else your miniature might be made from) only represents a line of stats that interacts with a table of effects in the rules. As long as you and your opponent know what is what, you could have matchstick men on the table for all I care. It's a game! It's supposed to be fun!

Whilst quite logical and I heartily agree with your points; although it’s devolved into a daft WYSIWYG vs Proxy round and round; the original point was this:

What is the sword on the Escher sprue?

All the original evidence and the blade itself suggested Power Sword. It’s since got retconned into a Stilletto Sword.

Play it as a chainsword if you want but what was it supposed to be?? I say Power.
