Hi YakTribe,

Long time no see. The 3D space Hulk project still burns in the imagination, but work stress and a global pandemic has really taken its toll on my life and hobby time lately.

However! I've been tinkering away at some necromunda projects that are at a stage that I feel comfortable sharing now.

The first is a slave ogryn conversion of an old warhammer fantasy ogre I had lying around in my bits box.

Green stuff, an ork hand, plasticard and guitar wire make up the bulk of the conversion. I used blue tak to fill the majority of his tum, topped that off will wall filler and then sculpted the rest with green stuff.

Here is what I had to work with:

This is where I am at. I need to add some teeth to the wrench and sand down the filler drying between the two plasticard sheets I used to make it:

I'm pretty happy where it's heading towards. I like the ogryn models that games workshop previewed and felt inspired enough to try my hand at making one. I thought about trying to make it more similar to the reveal ogryns, but ultimately decided to keep it simple.

So that's project one. Project two was inspired by this spekter concept art that I was browsing after ordering myself a set of Delaque gangers.

When inspecting the art I noticed that the body kinda looked like a cadian helmet. This thought sparked a crazed chopping, shaping, filing fest after finishing work today. The end result of this frenzy was the following:

It really needs to have the little claws on the tentacles smoothed and thinned out, but pretty happy with this one as well. I am also contemplating chopping off the headlight from an old Citroen car model to use as the primary optics shown in the concept image. Not sure about that though, so will think about other options.

Thanks for perusing my post if you have made it this far, and if anyone has any hints for a Delaque newbie let me know. From what I have read the spekter is kinda trash, but it does look cool.

Cheers,
Al

I am terribly sorry for the spam YakTribe, but I'm getting pretty excited about being at the fun point of the project.

Did some tinkering to the model itself, by adding greenstuff eyes and replacing some of the "hands" with plasticard scissors.

This was the result:

I also got a base coat down and started painting the base. I am not happy with the yellow, so I will return to it later. I did a lot of stippling with various orangy browns, then masked off the red areas and tried using the salt technique for chipping. It didnt really show through.

I then painted the hazard stripes area and did rough highlights by sort of dotting around the edges to try to suggest chipping and add to the randomness.

I have no idea what colour scheme to go for with the spekter itself yet. I'm thinking of painting my Delaque models themselves either a deep green or jade, so I might use one of these colours for the lenses to make a visual connection to the gang. I might go with a dark red for the body to tie the model to the base a bit more cohesively, as I don't think I want the model to be mostly black.

Anyways, this is what I have so far:

So I didn't go for a cold colour on the chassis, but I did go for a colour I will probably use for weapons casings and the like. The claws and scissors needs some work for smoother transitions, and the tentacles and syringe need to be painted.

Still WIP, but slowly getting there:
