Hey Guys,

My name is Mark and I am the creator of a new fully 3D Printable war game called XYZ Division, which we hope to launch on Kickstarter soon.

XYZ Division is unique in the fact that it is the first subscription based online war game, hosting a plethora of 33mm figurines and scenic models which you are able to print and battle with. Nearly all our figurines are customisable letting you chose the weapon as well as the podium they stand on. You can print out as many models as you desire as there are no download or printing limits, this enables you to create monstrous personalised armies and table tops of your dreams at a fraction of the cost of purchasing models or scenic objects from the stores.

now we know that not everyone has access to 3d printers which is why we are looking to create software which would enable you to purchase the models at a low cost and have them printed at a hub near your geographical location. This reduces not only shipping costs but manufacturing costs too

you can find more about XYZ Division on Instagram where we are heavily active https://www.instagram.com/xyzdivision/

I would love to hear your thoughts on 3D printing table top figurines and scenery. Is our concept something that would interest you guys?

Hey Blood Donor,

Thanks for your response!

We want to give everyone a chance to play XYZ Division. Our play testing sessions showed us that having advance rules right from the off would potentially alienate a lot of new, beginner gamers, that are interested in the models and lore. We stripped back our advanced rules and are only going to release our core rules initially. We appreciate that this may come as too simplistic to the seasoned gamer but giving a beginner 80+ pages of rules just didn't work and we want everyone an opportunity to play XYZ Division Over time we will release advanced rules but we really want the rules to grow as our gamer community grows, allowing you to submit your ideas and even vote on the major rule changes we want to impose.

We will post some images of our models soon, but you can check us out on Instagram here where we are heavily active.

I think the core rules approach is a very smart idea, in the modern era of GW actually getting themselves in the good books of many of their tenured hobbyists I think that their AoS approach - which looks to be taken on in their newest edition of 40K - which offers a package for quick one-off games, lore based narrative games, and then the more crunch oriented competition friendly rules rules, that they are doing themselves favours by offering something that is a door opener. So I certainly agree and support your motion towards having something that won't intimidate new players. That's how the hobby grows! :)

As far as mechanics do go, anything in particular you feel is great strength to the XYZ system? I'm just keen to hear more :p:cool:

There are a couple of unique gaming mechanics we have implemented.

Each squad (unit) has 'special moves' that are known as 'Exceptional' and 'Extraordinary' Acts. Gamers will get the option to select their Acts from a wide range online, before printing out a Squad Card. This means that every battle which takes place, gamers are likely to come up against opposition with different acts which means that each game will play out differently.

Our 3D printable Kathelka Stones allow gamers to unleash these special moves. Exceptional Acts can be unlocked by using regular Kathelka Stones which will always be available online for gamers to print. Extraordinary Acts however are unleashed by using special Kathelka Stones which will only be available in a limited numbers and available at random intervals for download on our online portal.

The whole 'subscription based online portal' where gamers like yourself can pick from a plethora of customisable models is different in itself. If we are successful through KS we hope to offer a platform whereby if users do not have a 3d printer, they can purchase online from us at a low, fixed price. We would then stream the models directly to a pre-approved print hub in the users geographical location which would minimise not only the manufacturing costs but also the shipping costs, enabling us to keep the subscription and printing costs as low as possible :)

Really like the idea of drafting up your playbook as preparation for a match and committing to that tactical option. I can envision now trying to read what one of your friend's is likely to plan based on their force (and especially what they might unlikely plan as a surprise tactic, always gotta keep that in mind as an option! :D), and trying to counter that with your own devised playbook.

Brings great depth to the planning side of being a tabletop general. Very cool (y)

All in all the online aspect seems like a pretty great way to approach competitive gaming, as it locks in rosters and warband styles (based on the mentioned Exceptional/Extraordinary abilities) which would ensure quality control across the board for organizers putting on larger events.
