Future Shock! - Convert a historical wargaming/fantasy or equivalent model to Necromunda/40k. Or convert a Necromunda/40k model back the other way to become historical/fantasy, for example a Mordheim model.

The Wall
The task is simple. Take something as mundane as a terrain piece representing a solid wall and make it interesting in any way you see fit.
However, it must be still useable for gaming, and must remain impassable. (So no Doors, or breaking through. Sorry, Jim.)
The good old Zone Mortalis terrain piece is ideal, but anything, as long it is vaguely similar and serves the same purpose, is a pass!

Sid.”
Make something from toys that aren't meant as gaming models. Can be terrain, minis, whatever you like as long as its at least 50% toys.

Less Human Than Human
While Imperial citizens tend to treat Abhumans with a mixture of hatred, fear and prejudice, in the depths of the Underhive many have found their place amoungst the rust and the ruin. In this competition, create a model (or models) that focuses on these not-quite-human denizens - be they Squat, Ogryn, Ratling, Beastman, Scaly or other mutant / deviation. In Mordheim where the races are less "mixed" from human stock, this might extend to "former" humans, such as Vampires or Werewolves.

storefront
Even deep in the Underhive life finds a way, and so do the desperate merchants trying to make a profit.
Design a small shop, storefront or trade cart terrain piece selling hideous or beautiful wares from the depths of the Underhive, bonus points for a accompanying merchant.

I actually have things in mind - though not yet started - that would probably suit four of these proposals. I'm not sure whether I'll have time to complete an entry though, since we plan to go away later in the month.

I voted, but I thought the prize for winning was reading the credits in the style of my choice picking the theme of the next comps? Is this the new way going forward?

Pretty much, I'm guessing until either enough yaks protest enough or someone comes up with something better? IIRC, the captain said he wanted to try this system after the special comp #40.

Made it just in time to vote. Did pick up a toy elephant this week from a charity shop thinking that it could be a squiggoth one day. While I've had plans to turn some BSF traitor guard into witch hunter's for Mordheim for some time. So two options suit me. However with tribemeet next month I probably won't have time to enter.

However with tribemeet next month I probably won't have time to enter.

I was just wondering about the timeline. If we start tonight, then I make six weeks to be a deadline of 18th September. Conveniently, that's the weekend before Tribemeet and means that people can make something for the meet as their comp entry, provided they can fit it to the chosen theme. Perhaps an abhuman pit fighter, converted from a fantasy model or toy, manning a retail outlet on the side of a big wall?

If one person who voted for Future Shock had switched their vote to Sid instead, we'd have had a four-way tie. That would have been interesting. But Future Shock it is.

I did Sid and future because I had 2 votes. If I only had the one it would have been Sid. Close voting just shows that many yaks had good ideas. Slap on the back all round.

Perhaps an abhuman pit fighter,
I already have big plans for my thundercube entry. So big I'm having to build 2 one "pilot" for use as my every game pit slave and one giant rig for the cube. My sponsor Moira won't let me take the rig out for normal underhive shenanigans. However normal games the Grox, who after the battering he took last year is just a torso with bionic bits every where. However in the cube will pilot a "Cybernetic Humanoid Utility Construction Kit". Or "Chuck" for short. An STC rig that can be used for all sorts of menial/construction tasks. Some older players may well remember who or what Chuck is. Of course he will just obey normal entrant rules. Just be a massive oversized intimidating model used for the cube.
