Huh. The votes are the complete opposite to what I was excited about.

Anyway, I will be entering with a sniper made from a Scabs (as in Kal Jericho and Scabs) mini. Just need to come up with some lore to inspire how to make him exactly. And maybe compete to have the first finished entry.

No time like the present!

What appears to be an excessively tooled-up giant slug has entered the scene...

It's the underpinnings of a fun little idea for a Necromunda ghillie suit.
I'm already behind for first entry, I see.

Well, my entry will be call Arksus "the Junk Punk". A dome runner who got captured by an archeotech AI, and has been put through endless computer simulations to be the ultimate protector.

He will be clothed in rags but equipped with high tech gadgetry, and be unable to separate reality from simulation.

Not sure I’ve got anything for this one. Not really got any need for another sniper mini for any system and got too many expendable mooks to paint. Also took up 3D printing this week so balls deep in that at the moment. Maybe inspiration will strike me.

It took all of 2 hours but I cracked and got some neat files to build some Militia from Reptilian Overlords. I'm sure there's something in the set I can use for the comp...

A blunderbuss counts as a sniper's weapon right?

Progress and finished pics. You could/should post most progress pics in a thread of your own that you can link to this thread.

I'm in. I'm thinking either a mercenary with Hochland hunting rifle or a witch hunter with a big ol' crossbow. Either way we're in Mordheim. I'll post a link once I start piecing something together, but I have a secret project to deal with first...

Out of curiosity, what is the feeling about redoing old, finished minis to fit the comp? Is that a can of worms best avoided?

I think the rule of thumb is that if you are making something new then fair game (maybe make the dismantling process part of the WIP). If all you did was remove a shotgun and glued a sniper rifle in its place, then you probably will get 0 votes for the bad faith.

Nothing like that. I have few bodies to work with, and was considering taking an old “finished” mini and reworking it. But then again, do I really want to un-finish an already finished gang? I’ll have WIPs in my Comp thread.

Edit: ehn, I’m already used to getting 0 votes. Still going to start anew anyway.

I think so long as your change is significant enough, you can use an old model as the base.

My burger rhino from last comp was an already finished & painted rhino when I started cutting it up for the burger joint. I acquired it specifically for the competition, but had it been in my collection before that I still would have used it, because I think the changes I made to it were considerable.

It's all in the perception of whether you believe a finished model can become bitz again, or if a finished model can never be bitz again. I believe a finished model can very much become bitz again, because I've done it a lot.

TLDR: Just a weapon swap on a prepainted model? Nah. Stripping/dismantling and converting and old model? - sure.
