The comp rules say that you can use an already painted mini if you strip it.

1. All entries must be started from new. Example: This means nothing half built, or something that has been on your shelf for a few months gathering dust. A Primed mini, or one that is about to be stripped would be ok though (so long you actually strip it)
The reason for this is, having something already semi-finished is an unfair advantage - especially for Terrain.

I assume priming over the existing paintwork would also work. I take it that the point is starting over from scratch - although this is a grey area (imho) because it suggests that you could paint a previously assembled/converted model.

Seems like a redundant rule as its not already painted if its stripped.

Also not using a "built" model from your shelf of shame seems odd, unless its purely talking about conversions. E.g. I have a BFG ship I want to enter. It already has its weapons and base glued on. I can't enter it according to the rules.

I like your idea for the e-x-x-t-e-n-n-d-o revolver @Biggle_Bear!

Dang you guys are fast!!

There's an old disassembled Vindicare model in pieces in my bits box....

Then there's another model I've wanted to purchase so I might go that way...

Ohhhh..... I have unfinished IG snipers too.....

I'll have to sort out my thoughts....

Here is my entry...

The Junk Punk

Arksus was sick of it. Three days he had crawled through this never ending maze of vents. He knew an archeotech hoard must be here somewhere. Why else were the ratskins protecting the area so aggressively. That's when he heard the sirens' call. An erratic beeping.

He began to crawl forward towards the grating. Crawling on top of it to get a better look. But apparently it wasn't strong enough to hold his weight, because it collapsed and sent him crashing down. He got up with pain and surveyed the room. Here it was! The hoard. Ancient intact machinery.

He was so excited that he failed to notice the serpentine cable retract itself away from his entry point. He approached the flickering monitor. Sat down on the chair in front of it. He couldn't take his eyes away from it, not even to see the mandible take aim and launch itself into his neck.

Years later, he never left that area. Fighting constantly with the local ratskins for dominance of the living machine, the Living One. He protects it at all costs, and in return the computer nourishes, trains and and rewards him.

Arksus will likely never see civilisation again, but his old comrades have found him, and died at his hands. Made only more gruesome by his own applause of his deadly shots.

How long can he keep the Living One safe?

I'm generally not a fan of dioramas so I want to also add a custom scenario (because why not).

Sniper's playground

This scenario plays just as the looters scenario, except that the roaming monster rules are replaced by the following Legendary Sniper rules.

After terrain and the loot counters have been placed, each player rolls a dice and the highest scoring player chooses a point on the edge of the board and places the sniper model 6" away from the edge. Players then continue with set up as normal.

The Sniper may not be targeted by any attack throughout the game.

After both players have their turn the sniper then gets a turn. They will make one of 3 actions. They select a target, take a shot or reposition.

They select a target by each player selecting an enemy fighter within line of sight of the sniper and placing a marker next to them. The fighter is now a Marked Target.

If at the beginning of the sniper's turn there is one or more Marked Targets within line of sight, the sniper will select a viable target at random and shoot. They hit on a 3+, regardless of other modifiers, and cause D3 strength 5 wounds. If a Marked Target is no longer within line of sight, remove the marker. They are no longer a Marked Target.

If at the start of the Sniper's turn there are no fighters, marked or otherwise, they will Reposition. Roll a dice. On a 1, 2 or 3, measure 15" to the left further along the table edge and place the Sniper 6" away from the table at that point. On a 4, 5 or 6, do the same but to the right.

If I was writing a Sniper Scenario I’d have a clock tower (or Eiffel tower) where Line of Sight is drawn, and not place/move an individual model around the table - Snipers are known to sit in cover, where they have a good view of everything, and pick targets off.
