A few pre-primer shots in my plog as well.
Definitely need that full respirator or they will get Asbestosilicosis. 😱

…as for my entry, I’ve battled Corpse Grinders and Orlocks so far this campaign, so I dug through my bits and have my Rat Shambler standing on one of each*

*just couldn’t find right arms for either, or a head for the Corpse Grinder, so my opponents have offered to bring in some bits on Thursday… THEN, when the base is done, I will start thinking about paint 🤦

For my part I chickened out on using real paint as I really wasn’t sure what colour palette to go with. The comic style really benefits from a very clean base so I didn’t want to be repainting things in different colours, but by overexposing a photo, cutting the background out, printing it, drawing in the outlines and then copying that I made a sort of children’s colouring page of my entry and got to work with felt tips. Pretty sure this has cemented me in the green and yellow troll plan!

Edit: looks blurry on my end... Might see what I can do before deadline.

Edit the 2nd: uploaded bigger picture, maybe it won't be as pixelated!?

Picture is good now @MedMos

I've got most of the colour blocking down on the troll (the head and hands are obviously being painted separately).

The green has been particularly challenging as I'm 3 thin coats in and I believe I will need to apply a fourth before I can add the lighter green highlights.

I've found this is the stage where the comic book style really looks at it's worst and there is a high risk of getting dispirited. Got to power through and trust the process and get to the black lining ASAP.

To keep up the excitement, remind me what I'm aiming for and keep my ink lining skills sharp I finished the base for the troll yesterday, a much easier job that gives me a bit of a completionist boost.

I’ve never tried the comic book style - I see it has become popular in Anime statuette circles recently too.

I think it’s an interesting style that probably needs an idea of shading and where to black line. I may give it a go sometime. 👍🏻

I don't think I'm likely to complete this in time (two weeks, starting now) but I have something that fits so, just in case I do manage it, I'll declare myself in.

The plan is a trukk for Gorkamorka. (It's not a guy exactly, but the big vehicle.)

Progress, if there is any, starts here.

Ok Yaks - this is my YakComp 52: Big Guy entry:

Big Scibour Ogryn to accompany my Orlocks into battle.

Lovely leather Trenchcoat with red interior.

A double shot if needed.

Been quite a fun model to paint. The amount of detail sculpted on was surprising but also a very noticeable difference in style to the computer sculpted plastic and resin we get usually.

Also nice to actually finish a project in time to enter the comp!! Hope you enjoy seeing him painted up!!
