Yakcomp Brainstorming Thread

I agree that going through the whole thread is tedious. It would probably be far more useful if there was a single post at the top that contained all the unused suggestions - rather like how suggested NCE updates get compiled. Trouble is that someone would have to do that and we don't pay our mods enough.
Too many entries and few can be summed up less than their original entry. Perhaps only those that get above a certain amount of likes?

"...and how that quiet kid ended up?"

I'm not sure how this concept would work, but this one also needs a bit of a backstory. In addition to the modeling and painting.
We all know the stereotype of the quiet, probably bullied kid from school, who 20 years later ended up doing things nobody would imagine he would ever do?
What would be the Underhive version of this? It gives a free rein of potions, but the more interesting story, (and model), the better.

I can't believe this hasn't been said already...

"Bravo six, going dark..."
Build and paint a secret operative or agent, spy, infiltrator, impostor, assassin, saboteur, or any differet kind of intelligence serviceman, who does not want to be seen.

(You know what is the first rule of how not to be seen? To not stand up.)

It's a good idea, though it leans rather heavily on yakcomp 32: Double agent.

Hello Tiny,

Yes, but it will be better to define what precisely a "conversion" is, since I noted that among the youngest players, gluing 2 plastic parts from a different plastic sprue is a "conversion" to them. To me, a least a metal body should be mandatory to a proper "oldies but goodies" theme.

I think a plastic conversion / kitbash would be fine, as long as it is made specifically to look like an older mini. e.g. an all plastic conversion of Mad Donna or Bull Gorg would be sweet and class as an "oldie". An all plastic goliath leader with eyepatch, chainsaw hat and melta gun would be a great homage to the old Goliath leader.

But this could also be a separate category in itself.

Hello Tiny,

Sure it could be. I realize my proposal was not clear. I had in mind "old school hobbying", giving the comp a technical constraint by using a metal miniature, but it could indeed more interesting to make an alt version of a classic miniature or never released character.

Sure it will.

Let me think about it... Ok, I think I'll survive the severity of not submitting a fully inclusive proposal.

To be (more) serious, why not see it rather as an opportunity for younger modellers to grab some old miniature and give it a try ?

…as long as you make the prize(s) some original metal models 😉
