Yakday London 2017
9th & 10th of September

This is two day Necromunda gathering in East London. The event is hosted and faciliated by Tanelorn Wargames Club at our new venue, EXP Leisure, in association with the awesome Yaktribe.

Apart from a chance to meet new people and Necromunda groups you can play random pickup games, play in the global Yakday campaign, or just use the opportunity to advance the story in an existing campaign. On top of this, there are two special multiplayer participation games, The Starvation Games on Saturday, run by @Llewy, and The Purge on Sunday, courtesy of @The Duke. Finally there will be prizes available for the best modelled gang and the top gang in the campaign.

Venue
EXP Leisure
60 Dace Road
London
E3 3NQ

Date & Time
9th and 10th of September.
12:00 - 23:00

Price
One day ticket - £10
Two day ticket - £18

Facilities
  • EXP cantina - Fully licensed bar with suitably pretentious beer selection and a cafe that serves up some truly delicious food. Best of all they take your order and delivery it to you at the gaming table, so no need to take a break from the furious gang warfare.
  • Magic Madhouse shop on site - some GW kits, books and modelling supplies, along with stuff from other miniature games, board games and magic cards.
  • Gaming Tables - unlimited 4'x4' tables in a fetching array of green, blue and brown hues.
  • Necromunda Terrain - the club will supply enough terrain to set up two-three 4 x 4 tables. Terrain for additional tables will need to be supplied by Yakkers. We are currently on track to have 5 tables.
  • Other Terrain - loads of 40k/warhammer/medieval/wild west stuff for anyone who wants to set up different sort of table, or perhaps play Inquisimunda.
  • Extensive Board Game libary - free to access for anyone that gets bored of Necromunda (he says, as he ducks for cover).
Prizes
  • Top Gang - $40 store credit + free shipping from Mad Robot miniatures. This prize will be awarded to the best performing gang from all Yakday participants - London, Peterborough or elsewhere. The winner is determined based on Gang Rating and games played.
  • Best Kitbashed Gang - $20 store credit + free shipping from Mad Robot miniatures. This prizes will be awarded to the gang that uses parts from a variety of kits to create kitbashed models that look great and stay true to the Necromunda story.
Thanks to Steve from the ever awesome Mad Robot miniatures for the above!

Depending on numbers we may be able to make some money available for other prizes. Best painted gang and best terrain setup will be on the cards if I get my way and enough people come.

Getting There & Parking
EXP is a 10-15 minute walk from Pudding Mill Lane and Hackney Wick stations, and 20 minutes walk from Stratford station.

On street parking near the venue is an eye watering £3.60 per hour on Saturday - if driving you may want to explore cheaper all day parking options in Stratford. On street parking is free on Sunday, however.

Registration
Pre-registration & payment is essential so we can plan for the right numbers and note that the event is currently capped at 16 people. Comment in this thread to express your intent to come along specifying one day or two days, and I will add you to the list below. I will mark you as a paid as soon as payment is confirmed to me by the club committee.

Payment is via PayPal (as a gift) to twgc_treasurer AT tanelornwgc DOT org. Please specify your Yak handle when paying so we know who is who!

Ok Im in. I'll also drive 3 yakkers from North East to London for petrol money (so you dont need to take out second mortgages for train tickets - this also assumes basic standards of hygiene/taste in radio stations on your part :p).
I'll bring two (three?) tables of terrain including my slime-canal boards.

I'll do two days if it fills up, but if stays small I'll only do one day and use the other to catch up with friends that live down there.

Dear all, I have very briefly conflated Spafe's crisp campaign rules with Captain D's psychotropic and fluffy landscape. I've done it in a google doc. in the eventuality that anyone wants to pitch in and make changes, or add new swathes of fluff, or crack out some top class graphic design skills. The link to the doc. is here. I've also attached the pdf. to this post.

Over in that other Yak day thread, the warriors from the north side of the dome have already begun besting each other by posting pics of their gangs with accompanying background. The Captain began it all with this rallying cry:

State your house, your gang name, and a brief intro to your gang!
E.g.
CaptainDangerous
House: Goliath
Gang name: The Captain and Crew of the I.S.S. Crumpet
Intro: These are the voyages of the Imperial Salvage Ship Crumpet,
It's one day mission: to dominate the dome of Downtown Mega Dome One,
To annihilate and eradicate new xeno life and strange new civilisations,
To boldly decimate heretics where no one has before!

Edit: The Crumpet just got declassified.

It might shine poorly on us if we didn't begin to do the same.

Nice one Noobzilla. Before I put your name down I should just double check you're aware of the Peterborough event which is presumably considerably closer to you? You are of course welcome down here but just thought I would check!

I approve of this campaign name :D

Are house weapon lists in effect here? That's one thing that most people want to have clarified at the outset.

I'm still debating whether I can come to Yakday or not but I think I may just make a gang with this extra budget to see what is possible.

Ah no I wasnt, but I am now Ive had a browse of the site. I do want to nip down to London at some point anyway, but might be best to leave it till next year, with Peterborough I'd be there and back within the day and no need for a hotel. Ill have a think on it.
