It was a private conversation:
The White Yak seemed simultaneously tense and relaxed. Across from him the Great Wizard was hunched over the fire, staring blankly at the flickering light.
'Have you made the requisite supplications?' The White Yak asked. 'Are the signs propitious?'
The Great Wizard deigned to reply, but he smiled softly.
'Stealer-of-the rusty-conch,' The White Yak addressed the wizard by one of his many epithets, his voice was faltering, 'What if the prophecy is wrong?'
The man by the flames swung round sharply his eyes blazing and spoke more than he had for many weeks: 'This is no time for doubt! Canochi,' only the Wizard could use The White Yak's brave's name now without losing an eye. 'There can be not even a shade of hesitation. How long have our people waited?' It was a rhetorical question. 'How much have we bled on the brown and cracking concrete?'
Now it was the White Yak's time to be silent. The Great Wizard continued, making jabbing movements with his finger. 'Have you made the necessary arrangements as I instructed? Is this not the year of seven moons when we have two great Totem warriors riding with us? Has Khal Malo been told and has he not replied in kind? Has Chief Faldin of the Wittering Bulls been told and has he not replied in kind?'
'Yes Great Wizard all of this is done as you say.'
'Then do not let a single thought of cowardice enter your mind!' He spat these words out like the red stained betel leaf. 'Tomorrow we will discover that the prophecy is true. The time of the Great Yakskin Uprising has arrived at last. Uptown, downtown, and across the black lake, Mega Dome One will be ours once more, the wrongs our people have suffered will be avenged, the cries of our brethren will pierce the hearts of the filthy hivers.' He stood up, bones rattling to the floor around him and screamed loud and shrill: 'Betsy will feast fully these next few days!'
@MancInventor @Malo Rooting for the fellow yakskins! Good luck!
