"Juves are often neglected, or at least low priority, when painting and modelling gangs and warbands. They are the test pieces to see if a paint scheme will work, and often have the least attention paid to them when it comes to details and finishing touches. We all know what happens when youths are neglected, they become the Young and the Restless, and it is rare to hear the word "delinquent" without the prefix "Juvenile" " ~ Trollmeat

Welcome to Comp 14 - Comp 13 was (just) won by @ClockworkOrange but he decided to hand the idea to the 2nd place entry which is @trollmeat.

As you can see above this one is all about those new additions to your Gang / Warband / Mob etc.

In essence, we'd like to make / model / paint a brand new "ZERO XP" member for you to use - perhaps you just got that 6 you need when working the settlement, or maybe you just need some new blood for replacements.

This works for just about all gangs and warbands (I think Scavvies may be an exception - and spyrers ofc)

Whilst this is essentially a Miniature painting contest - I can think of a few ideas 'outside the box' as it were ;)

Usual Rules Apply - nothing special here.

Closing date will be 6 weeks from now - so on or around the 6th of July (I may extend as it's close to that day that Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum saved the world ;) )

Please respond to this thread with your intention of joining - keep the WiP on your own thread but please post occasionally here too. Also, any questions, please post them here - either myself or @ClockworkOrange can advise.

Good Luck :D

EDIT: Removed the move request.

I'll kick stuff off...

So I'm going to enter the 'Neglected Youth' competition. Why finish stuff when I can start more, right? RIGHT?

OK, this chaplet was in an eBay bitz bag, as a lot of this thread's minis began life. He's truly been neglected, I suspect by a youth. He had a thick coat of tan paint which I've soaked him in Biostrip to remove. But LOOK! Look at that assembly prowess! The audacious removal of a foot! The... whatever happened with that arm? Quite avant garde!

So, I've a full strip down and cleanup job to do, before rebuilding the missing leg and deciding what to do with the rest of him. I may regret choosing him as a base, especially if all the detail is poly cemented away, but I'll only GS him anyway. Now... what to do with him?

I'll give it a go... maybe one of these days I'll actually find time to finish an entry in time to enter it!

now to decide what house to go with... hmm... goliaths are drawing me back in...

Painting one would count?

Unfortunately not if you have already converted the model before the comp begins you can't then paint it as your entry. However painting a "stock" model would count. It's so the voting punters can gauge the amount of work you've put in easily from the photo.

The one exception is painting a cast of a model you have previously skulpted yourself .

I appreciate that it's difficult to frame rules for every eventuality, but am I the only one struggling to see the rationale here? I was going to ask whether you'd be allowed to paint a model that someone else converted - indeed, I believe someone else did it in the last competition. If so, what's the difference between someone else and your past self - if anything, I'd prefer to see people's own work.

Surely all that's needed for voting purposes is before and after photos and/or a declaration that we should only vote on the basis of the paint job and not the conversion.
