Well, this is where I am so far...first ever time with GS... Be nice
C&Cs welcome and appreciated.
For the fur, looks like you've got the right technique but you're just not going far enough. Keep on spiking and dragging the GS until it's completely textured. The one on the left for example is quite smooth with the occasional cut mark, so it doesn't quite deliver the effect you're going for (assuming it's supposed to be fur of course!)
I'm in for an Escher Juve. Cut the weapons off of her on May 31 and only discovered this thread today.
Lots of cool entries startin to take shape
For my entry, all pics are in my Yak14 gallery and I've finally gotten around to adding them to my plog
Spoiler: Hernia +Goliath Man-Cave
Hernia and the Goliath Man-Cave
Hernia fondly looks upon the reflection of the most beautiful Goliath in the Hive.
Would a BFG Light Cruiser count for this? It's the only thing that I've been coming up for that might fit.
Captured during the heresy and Captained by a young midshipmen as he flys it back to port for the prize money? Why not if only cuz I like BFG and have always wanted a go!
Finally done building Orlock Juves. Here is the final pic:
Zero is the guy second from the right--hasn't even figured out he needs a loincloth yet he's so zero XP. Fun to kitbash these guys, but now they need some paint...
Check the full thread here along with information on my other Orlocks.
Ok so here are the Juves I was talking about, let me know if I waited long enough or if I'm not allowed to enter them at all.
The conversions did not take long at all as I just replaced the hands to give them dual pistols (basically to make them look a bit different from their clones).
Wow, that's way more elaborate than I was thinking. I mostly was thinking I could use this as an excuse to get started on a fleet for my son. But, yeah, what you said as that sounds WAY better!
@nooker both reasons are fine, but starting a fleet for your son?
@Scumb4g yes, go for it!
Ok thanks! Let's see if this can keep me of of Total War Warhammer
I think it's about time Hive Guys took on a new staff member... I'll see if I can find some hobby time to enter this one!
I'm an idiot. I was convinced this said 6th of June.
I'm in. Looks like someone's getting a new warband started!
I have a question to determine if I can enter; forgive me if it's been answered elsewhere but I can't see it in this thread or the comp rules.
I'm sculpting a mini, but have no intention of painting it as I want to experiment with casting, and my situation isn't suited to painting anyway. Rules state that a piece must be finished, but for my intents and purposes, it will be. Can I still enter?
Either way, good luck to everyone and I look forward to seeing what is made.
"finished" is very subjective - what one may consider finished may only be a start to others.
We have had at least one entry before that wasn't "finished" just at a sculpted level - so yes.
Please be aware though that most people here judge on the whole package as it were - being painted is part of that package
Definitely got to be a guy to scrub the floors....no wait, we don't care about the floors. Alright, a dishwasher...no, scratch that, we just reuse 'em. Garbage boy? No, we reuse that too...Hmmmm, what does the new guy do at Hive Guys?
^ they definitely need a juve armed with a knife(meat cleaver) and a club(severed arm/leg) in the other hand
As far as not painting, sure for the purposes of casting it might be completed but I assumed it meant ~"tabletop ready"... praps I should leave Hernia unpainted to show off the carving('cos I suck at painting), but I think his mancave needs a splash
.oO(though maybe I will have time to paint him and for my final pic include an amalgum of several photos that show comparison of original to carved)
Lets get started!
Heading for something "outside the box" you might say. I blame djmothra.
A little photo to convince you all of my genius. (Possibly insanity, unsure.)
I appreciate that when it comes to judging, just wanted some rules clarification. Well, that's great! I'm in! Looking forward to taking part.
My last entry was mostly like this
Most of the time was spent starting and restarting sculpts. Then, once I had something I was happy with, a mad rush to get it cast. Leaving one day to do the best I could with painting...
This time I'm going to try and give more time for painting too...
Can't wait to see what you come up with
