When deploying on a Zone Mortalis board how do you guys define the battlefield edge? Often the tiles are not evenly placed and the edge of the battlefield is not straight. If there are multiple tiles that technically would be the edge of the battlefield can a gang deploy in all 3 tiles if the the edge is uneven?

We recently had a situation in which my opponent deployed in 3 tiles and they were all of differing depth. One of the tiles was the full 6 squares into the battlefield and did not actually touch the neighboring edge tile. One of the tiles also technically contained the opposite edge of the battlefield as well so in theory both gangs could deploy in the same tile with this interpretation.

I am a bit confused by the ZM edge deployment as it seems to me that gangs should not really be deploying in the same tile.

I don't know, but there's some related discussion in this thread:

although the rules never actually define table edge or opposite, which is necessary for the odd shapes that tend to evolve when placing tiles.

However, I get the impression that the rules typically suggest that a table edge is every external tile edge facing a given direction, which also makes the opposite table edge obvious.

However, it does have problems as you've seen. Although, in this instance both players would be aware of how close they will be deploying to one another on that tile, and will have the option to deploy elsewhere on their edge if desired.

The only real alternative is that the edge is the single continuous edge most protruding. However, this has the problem that deployment zones can vary massively in length and makes the opposite edge unclear.

Further issues can be caused by either method when you also consider objectices, which can be made unduly easier or harder by either method.
Unfortunately the deployment rules for ZM in general aren't amazing, the 'tile selection' isn't much better, and the ability for one player to choose one type and the other another just created even less clarity.
