Greyhart's Projects Thread - Because all the other cool Yaks are doing it.

Well after a week of not painting I managed to knock quite a few things out today.

Heavy Gear Stoneheads, one of the great mysteries of the game.

More Stoneheads.

And finally the remaining buildings, etc that I had. That completes all the Heavy Gear terrain that I have.

I'm going to try to get back to the second Southern starter box tomorrow. I'm done for the day. Getting old sucks.

Well.. September was a bust for painting. I had lots of other things going on that took my time and what time I had I didn't feel like painting.. or doing anything for that matter. Bad month I guess.

I did manage to finish a few things yesterday.

Two Iguanas, two demolition drones, and two recon drones for my Heavy Gear Southern army.

I did a ton of priming today as it's gorgeous weather here. Trying to prep for the winter months. I went through 3/4 of a can of spray primer.

Ready to go are:

- Steel Rift Quick Start starter (6 models)
- Aeronautica Imperialis
Space Marine ground assets (3 models)
Imperial Pathfinder bombers (2)
Imperial Vulture gunships (2)
Imperial Vendetta transports (2)
Ork Dakkajets (3)
Ork Fighta-bommers (2)
Ork 'Eavy bommers (2)
Ork Grot bommers (2)
Ork Mega-bommer
- Fallout: Factions
Operators (8)
Pack (9)
Disciples (9)

I might try to get more stuff assembled and primed next week. I still have Eldar and Chaos for AI along with more Steel Rift and Heavy Gear.

I was at the flgs with kids and out of town visitors, and found no Heavy Gear anything there. Loads of Battletech stuff and even scenery for that scale.

@Punktaku Yeah, Heavy Gear is really niche, and BattleWreck has cornered the Stompy Robots market. I used to play, but don't anymore - and gave all my stuff to my son - as I have issues with Catalyst. But I digress.

Most stores don't carry Heavy Gear unfortunately. The two player starters are a great deal with a full digest sized rulebook and 24 minis (12 for each side) for @$125, and that is enough minis to play a full game. The plastic sets, although rather static in pose, are a great way to start. An "average" 100 points game will take an hour to an hour and a half depending.

Dream Pod 9 is great to order from though if you want anything. Robert mails out packages twice a week, so you'll normally have your stuff within a week after you put in the order if not sooner. Any problems with product (bad casts, missing parts) are resolved right away. And if there's something special you want (specific parts which aren't sold separately for example) he'll work something out for you.

If you know you're going to Citadel Game Cellar in Groton, have some time, and want to try it out let me know. I'll be happy to teach.

I'm still building and priming for winter.

This week I did:

- Wall of Martyrs terrain set
- Death Korps of Krieg Kill Team (20 minis/2 boxes)
- Broodcoven box (for Brood Brothers Kill Team)

Tomorrow I'm going to build a Brood Brothers box. I should have ordered two but I didn't pay attention. I'll get another one in the next day or two off Scramazon.

I have waiting to be built:

- Hernkyn Yaegirs Kill Team box
- Wyrmblade Kill Team
• Neophytes x 20
• Kellermorph
• Locus
• Sanctus x2

Not sure how much more I'll do. Guess it mainly depends on the weather, which is still supposed to be unseasonably mild for this time of year for at least next week.

I'm going to try to get back to painting the first of the month. That's my goal anyway. I'll see what happens.

I finished assembling the second box of Brood Brothers along with basing them all. Today I'm working on the Hernkyn Yaegirs. It's still supposed to be nice next week so I'm plugging away still at assembly and priming. I might keep going as long as I have good weather.

I did give in and order Kill Team: Hivestorm (arrives Sunday) so I'll be assembling and priming that next week.

Well.. I did a stupid and accidentally deleted my album. Quick Tip - Don't jam out to heavy metal while trying to edit.

Anyway, rather than beating myself about the head and shoulders over it I just started a new album.

First up, I started painting the Tempestus Aquilons from Hivestorm. I'm painting them as the 50th Kappic Eagles as I really like the colors and (sparse) background on the unit. I'll be taking a bit of artistic license with some colors (dark brown for the leathers instead of black to make them stand out more).

Progress I've made this morning.

I paint in batches of five figures as it helps me keep a sense of progress and I don't get bogged down.

So got this far on the Tempestus Aquilons yesterday then burned out. My back was killing me by lunch so I stopped.

This morning I decided to work on something other than fiddly GW minis so I started the Disciples gang for Fallout: Factions.

Skin is done on all models. Went with different skin tones to keep from being boring. Might start on some of the clothes this afternoon.

For some reason the Aquilons and Disciples haven't motivated me to paint. I picked back up on my Heavy Gear Southern army and am going to try to finish that up. I completed painting the two Cobras that were in progress, now I'm working on the two King Cobras. I should finish them by tomorrow then I'll clear coat and base all four. After that I have four Black Mambas to complete my Southern forces.
