Necromunda The Sump: General hobby venting thread (Beware: old men shouting at clouds)

Thought the whole point of computerisation in retail was so decrease queuing!

So, they have a queue that you’ve got to queue to join. 🤣🤣

EDIT: Just tried it. That’s hilarious!!’

Ha, finally looked at the actual website after queueing for 2 mins. What a piece of junk. Management really know how to fix something that wasn't broken in the first place.

Like seriously, the developer knocked that site up in an afternoon.

The fancy initial letter for each description made me laugh. It didn’t even seem to change style depending on 40k, Sigmar or Old World. C’mon dudes!!

Also there’s a weird bug where it shows you an initial image then the rest seem to be a drawing of a servo skull with scroll. Then it puts the rest of the actual images.

Admittedly I’m looking on mobile so it’s not terrible there overall… but you’d better get used to filters to find what you want otherwise you’ll be there all day clicking “Show more”.

If I had to rate my level of tech-savvy, it'd be somewhere between "simpleton" and "these sure are fancy electronic typewriters." That being said, I find the new GW store website pretty much impossible to navigate. What a mess. I've been to fly-by-night recasting websites that were designed better. Worst part is, the old GW store website was fine! Easy to find all the out-of-stock, no-longer-available products I wanted to buy but couldn't!

Now you have to click "Show More" repeatedly to find them...

Another point; if you go a certain depth down the categories, then want to look at a different one, you have to navigate away from the current page back to the beginning to start again, instead of just changing the filters on the left of the old site.

I can't even get there to see how bad it is. (And it seems pretty bad given that these posts are taking over my Facebook feed as well.) For several weeks I hadn't been able to access GW at all, I'd just get a timeout error. Tried everything I could find to fix it as it and FW were the only websites I found acting like this. Then last week I'm magically able to load the GW page again with no fuss at all. But now with this change I'm back to timeout errors and a page that won't load at all.

As much as I'd like to say my FLGS approves GW website change. They actually instead posted this today:

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
If you placed an order on the Games Workshop website over the weekend it might be worth checking it's still showing on your account. We're having to follow up with them this morning because some orders we placed have temporarily (we hope!) disappeared from our account in the website change over yesterday.....

I've just checked for my recent order placed last week, I can only see completed orders. No mention of outstanding orders anywhere. You'd think they would have an area in the account management to tell you whether you have outstanding orders or not...

I'll have to forward on my order confirmation email to their customer service team to ensure they'll fulfill it. What a joke.

That website is awful. It genuinely took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to access the Necromunda stuff. They’ve added a bunch more clicks/taps whatever to get to the stuff I want, which frustrates. It’s good they’ve got the Forgeworld stuff in the same place, but man the implementation feels pretty poor.

They've really made a mess of that new site. Gone again are the paint examples, so, unless you're someone like Vince Ventruella, it's back to fumbling around for a highlight colour that "works" on a layer of contrast paint! And the Citadel colour app doesn't do contrast paint now it seems. Just have to work out what "base" paint each contrast paint is supposed to be an equivalent of I guess!

Haven't tried it on a mobile device, I only have 2, a phone and a 10" galaxy tab, and neither get used for shopping, but my god it's awful on Firefox and Chrome on a PC!! Although the fonts seem to work on Chrome!?!

Total fustercluck from GW imo!

Fine, fine, I'll go and have a look at the blinking websi.... holy crap. That's pretty poor.

Someone in the GW interwebbage department needed to validate their continued employment I expect.

I had a crack at finding a couple of things, and it did work out eventually, but not as easy as the old system. The "Shop" button imbedded in the video at the top which brings up the classic "what game are you shopping for" menu really needs to be more obvious. Not that the button lists all the games - we're sorry Aeronautica players, you're apparently not a thing anymore.
